Account Manager (Newsletter Strategist)

Future Forest is a premium newsletter management agency for B2B businesses: consultants, executive coaches, software vendors, professional services firms with long sales cycles and expensive offerings. We write, edit, and manage the newsletters our clients don't have time for, at a level that actually moves their business.

An Account Manager is the strategic lead and relationship owner for a book of newsletter clients. Think of it as account management for someone who specializes in newsletters. You'd own 12–15 accounts, run the monthly strategy and analytics reviews, and make sure every client stays because they trust the work and see results.

What You'd Do

• Own a book of client accounts as the primary strategic relationship manager
• Lead monthly newsletter strategy and analytics reviews
• Run content direction sessions that connect topics to each client's audience and business goals
• Translate performance data into clear, specific recommendations
• Work with our writers and editors to keep every piece at our standard, and edit directly when it needs it
• Spot opportunities to sharpen a newsletter: subject lines, angles, cadence, segmentation
• Build the kind of client relationships where referrals happen without being asked

What We Look For

• Real newsletter expertise: you've run one yourself or managed one for someone else
• Agency experience at a place where excellent client work was the standard
• The ability to build trust quickly, listen well, and push back when it's warranted
• A point of view: you can sit with a client's data and come back with a real recommendation
• Great taste in writing, and the judgment to know when a draft isn't landing and why
• 3–5+ years at a reputable marketing agency, ideally managing B2B newsletter or email programs
• Comfort reading email performance data (opens, CTR, list health, churn) across ESPs like Mailchimp, Beehiiv, HubSpot, Customer.io, Substack, or Kit

Writer

Future Forest writes newsletters our clients don't have time to write themselves, for consultants, executives, VCs, and small businesses across industries like technology, venture capital, sustainability, and financial services. We're not interested in clickbait or surface-level content. We want pieces readers save, share, and remember.

We're always looking for talented writers who can research a new industry quickly and come back with something genuinely worth reading: a market-analysis piece for a VC, a long-form editorial feature, a finance newsletter written to build trust with small-business readers over time. We don't have a specific assignment open right now, but we keep a running list of writers we love working with, and we reach out when the right client fits.

What We Look For

• Proven writing samples: thought leadership, editorial features, or industry analysis
• Strong research skills and the ability to synthesize complex information into a clear point of view
• Versatility across subjects and, often, the ability to ghostwrite in someone else's voice
• Reliability: polished drafts delivered on a 4–5 business day turnaround
• Native-level English proficiency and an editor's eye for your own work
• A genuine curiosity about the industries you write about, not just the assignment in front of you

Marketing Operations

$30–40/hr · ~5–10 hrs/week to start · Remote (US)

Behind every newsletter we send is a finely tuned operation: email platforms configured correctly, automations running quietly in the background, lists that are clean and well-organized. This role is part technical execution, part strategic thinking, across multiple client accounts at once.

What You'd Do

• Configure and manage email service providers: Mailchimp, Beehiiv, Substack, HubSpot, and others
• Build automations and list infrastructure: welcome sequences, enrichment surveys, suppression lists
• Translate design files (Figma, Illustrator) into pixel-perfect newsletter templates, with HTML/CSS when a drag-and-drop builder won't cut it
• Analyze subscriber data (opens, clicks, unsubscribes, engagement trends) and turn it into clear recommendations
• Connect operational details to the outcomes clients actually care about: leads, trust, retention
• Write concise, well-crafted content when needed, like short article summaries for curation sections

What We Look For

• Deep, hands-on experience with multiple ESPs
• Experience building email automations, flows, and segmentation logic
• Precision replicating professional designs inside drag-and-drop email builders
• Strong analytical instincts and comfort drawing conclusions from engagement data
• Strong writing and editing ability for concise, high-quality short-form content
• HTML/CSS knowledge is a plus, as is agency or newsletter-specific experience
